Job Description:

This Accountant II serves as an intermediate level position in the Business Center, a unit within UF Information Technology (UFIT), and will support the university’s success through service and operational excellence. This position serves as subject matter expert in transactional reconciliation, solves accounting and/or financial problems, and coordinates the implementation and interpretation of financial procedures within University of Florida Information Technology (UFIT) units. This position also plans, manages, and reviews financial functions for all seven (7) UFIT units, with special focus on non-auxiliary-based operations, but may also include auxiliary-based operations. The Accountant II provides support for and assists with financial reporting for all UFIT units and integrates financial management with the information technology (IT) mission and strategic direction.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

  • Review and analyze accounting transactions related to accounts payable, property, payroll, projects, and sales. Create journal entries and budget transfers (as needed). Responsible for assisting with the monitoring and making of recommendations for available funds balances for all fund types.
  • Monitor and reconcile all monthly financial reports for each UFIT unit. Aid in the training of senior staff on reconciliation process and ensuring monthly processes are completed in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for financial activities necessary to operate UFIT non-auxiliary and auxiliary operations in compliance with accounting policies and rules, including (including, but not limited to) assisting with fund management, budgeting, and variance analysis.
  • Provide grant and contract management support.


Responsible for internal auditing for all UFIT units by providing guidance to staff members and reviewing internal records and transactions, working with external auditors (as needed), and formulating and recommending policies, procedures, and control systems.

Expected Salary:

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.

Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience but does not negate the minimum degree requirement(s).
