Durham University is one of the world's top universities with strengths across the Arts and Humanities, Sciences and Social Sciences.

The Department of Psychology is consistently ranked as one of the very best in the UK with an outstanding reputation for excellence in teaching, research and student employability. Currently the department's research falls within three groupings: Cognitive Neuroscience, Developmental Science, and Quantitative Social Psychology. There is a vibrant research culture with a weekly departmental research seminar series.

The Role Applications are invited for a 6-months full-time Research Assistant position in Behavioural Science with a particular focus on leadership and behaviour change. The successful candidate will join the research project 'Building high performing leaders through nudging' jointly led by Dr Mario Weick (Durham University) and a commercial project partner (Multiplii Ltd). The project is supported by an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Impact Accelerator Account award. The aim of the project is to develop and evaluate behaviour change interventions in leaders using Multiplii's commercial nudge tool. The tool is designed to help leaders make small but impactful changes in behaviour and communication at work.

This post is fixed term; funding is availble for six months only.

The post-holder is employed to work on the project which will be led jointly by the principal investigator and the external project partner. Whilst this means that the post-holder will not be carrying out independent research in his/her own right, the expectation is that they will contribute to the advancement of the project, through the development of their own ideas.

Post holders will be able to work remotely and are hence not required to relocate to Durham, however there will be some travel to Durham for visits. This will be discussed and agreed by the department. All applicants are asked to submit:
  • A CV and covering letter which details your experience, strengths and potential in the requirements set out above;
  • An example of a first-authored, written output (e.g., essay, dissertation, report or journal publication).
