Job Description:
Rappahannock Community College (RCC) is a two-year public institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). Established in 1971 as a comprehensive community college, RCC serves the residents of Essex, Gloucester, King and Queen, King George, King William, Lancaster, Mathews, Middlesex, New Kent, Northumberland, Richmond, and Westmoreland counties with quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities.

The college strives for a faculty of content experts who are also knowledgeable about best practices, innovative strategies, and instructional technologies that support teaching and learning. Outreach and service to the college community (developing partnerships, academic advising, and committee work and faculty governance) along with the ability to teach 15 credits per semester. Finalists will be asked to perform a teaching demonstration.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Instructor (F0031) – Full time, nine-month teaching position available in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for the spring 2022 semester. Responsibilities include organization, planning, assessing, and evaluation of the college EMS program as well as teaching face-to-face, hybrid, online, and/or clinical courses the equivalent of 15 credit hours per semester. The EMS faculty will also serve as a liaison with clinical sites and agencies associated with the program, advise students, assist with registration, review and select instructional materials, complete program assessment, serve on college committees, and represent Rappahannock Community College at community and professional events. The EMS faculty will assist the Dean of Health Sciences in the hiring and coordination of EMS adjunct faculty and part-time instructors, as delegated.

KSA’s/Required Qualifications: Nationally Registered EMT-Paramedic Certification. ACLS/PALS/BLS certification, and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support Instructor certification. EMS/Paramedic program coordinator credential. Possess a current Virginia EMS educator coordinator certification or be eligible following the January 25-27 Educator Coordinator Institute. Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.  Minimum of three years of recent EMS/Paramedic experience, experience with state and national accreditation, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must be willing to teach a combination of day, evening, weekend, hybrid, and online classes with the ability to be flexible to work at any of the College’s locations.

Preferred Qualifications: Community college teaching experience. Significant experience in teaching across all levels of EMS programming.
