The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg invites applications for a tenure-stream position in History at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2022. A Ph.D. in hand by August 2022 is a requirement for this position. Candidates with research specializations in U.S. immigration and/or civil rights history that contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education, a successful record of undergraduate teaching, and demonstrated interdisciplinary interests for collaborative cross-disciplinary teaching are encouraged to apply. Successful record of undergraduate teaching experience preferred. 

Pitt-Greensburg values candidates with a commitment to in-person undergraduate teaching, campus and community service, experience in working with diverse groups, and the ability to involve undergraduates in research. Successful candidates should be prepared to teach a 4/4 load (typically 12 credits per semester). Teaching responsibilities include the US History survey sequence as well as other upper-level courses related to the candidates’ area of specialization. Candidates also will teach Historical Methods and Inquiry and History Capstone on a rotational basis with the other faculty in the department. Additionally, candidates should be prepared to devote time to service and scholarship as part of their appointment and expectations of reapppointment and tenure.
