The Faculty of Counseling and Counseling Psychology (CCP) in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts (CISA) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for two open-rank professor positions (i.e., tenure-track or tenured). We encourage applications from exceptional candidates at all levels (i.e., assistant, associate, and full professor). CCP is home to an APA-accredited doctoral program in counseling psychology, a master’s program in clinical mental health counseling approved by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners, and undergraduate majors in psychology and counseling and applied psychological science. CCP offers a collegial faculty that emphasizes outstanding scholarship, teaching, clinical supervision, and professional service in the spirit of enhancing society.


We are seeking scholars who embody ASU’s Charter of inclusion, use-inspired research, and social embeddedness. We are particularly interested in applicants whose research addresses social justice and impact on topics including, but not limited to: (a) Indigenous Peoples in North America, (b) bilingual and bicultural Latinx psychology, (c) veterans and military families, and (d) crisis intervention/law enforcement de-escalation.


Successful candidates will be expected to engage in research applicable to counseling and counseling psychology; seek external funding to support their research program; teach required graduate courses, with opportunities to teach undergraduates; apply innovative teaching techniques; advise and mentor graduate students with opportunities to mentor undergraduates; and provide service to the university and profession. Positions are academic year (9-month) appointments with an expected start date of August 16, 2022. Positions are benefits-eligible appointments with tenure implications. Course load and composition are determined by the faculty head.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate from an APA-accredited counseling psychology program or closely related field at the time of appointment
  • Published research in peer-reviewed journals relative to rank
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness
  • Ability to teach in digital environments (i.e., synchronous and asynchronous)
  • Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in research, teaching, and/or service

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong evidence of a scholarly research program in counseling and/or counseling psychology
  • Research focus on one or more of the following areas: (a) Indigenous Peoples, (b) bilingual and bicultural Latinx psychology, (c) veterans and military families, and (d) crisis intervention/law enforcement de-escalation
  • Record of or demonstrated potential for securing external funding
  • Experience teaching graduate students in counseling and/or counseling psychology
  • Eligibility for licensure as a psychologist in Arizona
  • Active involvement in professional organizations in counseling psychology and/or ethnic minority psychological associations; professional identity as a counseling psychologist
