The Admissions Office of Student Affairs is seeking an Admissions Coordinator who will provide complex project and administrative support requiring substantial collaboration with prospective students, faculty, and department staff. This role will provide information and advise prospective students regarding related sets of admissions requirements for more than 40 multidisciplinary academic and non-degree program offerings. Articulate relation of graduate study to career outcomes based on familiarity with the educational structure and career opportunities for a variety of disciplines.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Process and review submitted applications in SOPHAS (Common Application for School and Programs of Public Health) for completeness.
  • Follow-up with departments and applicants about incomplete or missing application items.
  • Provide preliminary advising/screening of international applicants, including the examination and evaluation of foreign credential evaluations from outside credentialing agency.
  • Participate in school wide recruitment events, including occasional student tours.
  • Review and revise relevant sections of the department manual. Recommend updates to the school’s Policy Procedure Memoranda’s (PPMs) as they relate to admissions requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with prospective students, faculty admissions committee members, academic coordinators, and staff supporting admissions committees.
  • Advise prospective applicants, various departmental staff, and program faculty regarding federal compliance, applicant admissibility, equity issues, etc.
  • Address issues or infractions related to policy or legal requirements when determining applicant status, balancing faculty requests with other constraints, etc.
  • Assist with processing and policy strategies in regards to processing of applications.
  • Moderate degree of independent action. Common contacts for this position include prospective students, faculty admissions committee members, academic coordinators, and staff supporting admissions committees.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • HS/GED required.
  • Familiarity with and/or competency to gain working knowledge of the following admission acts (FERPA, HIPAA) and best admissions guidelines (AACRAO, NAGAP).
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with a diverse socio-economic, national, and international applicant pool.
  • Four years progressively responsible administrative experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for some experience.
  • Some related experience in admissions, academic administration, or student services required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Overtime during peak application season may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Starting Salary Range: $19.82 - $27.27/hr (commensurate with experience)

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
