Associate Director, Clinical Services

George Mason University’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) seeks a full-time, experienced clinician and administrator (1.0 FTE, with benefits) to serve as Associate Director, Clinical Services. CAPS supports students through ethical and responsive care and prevention. We foster the well-being of the diverse Mason community through psychological, learning, outreach, and consultation services. We provide high-quality training to emerging mental health professionals. Under administrative direction by the Director, the Associate Director, Clinical Services directs the planning, administration, and supervision of the Counseling and Psychological Services clinical service delivery system. As a senior level administrator within Counseling and Psychological Services, the Associate Director, Clinical Services, performs duties critical to the successful operation of the unit, to include, ensuring adherence with legal and ethical standards relevant to the provision of psychological services; supervising staff and agency response to mental health emergencies and critical incidents; contributing to the selection, recruitment, supervision, training and continuing education of unit staff and trainees; and assisting with coordination and management of designated aspects of Counseling and Psychological Services’ operations.  In addition, the Associate Director, Clinical Services provides community education and professional mental health services to students; serves as a member of the Counseling and Psychological Services Leadership team; and may represent the unit in the absence of the Director or designee.

Required Qualifications:

Earned doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or Master’s Degree in Counseling    or Social Work; Independently licensed as a Psychologist, Professional Counselor, or Social Worker in Virginia, or ability to obtain licensure prior to employment start date; Minimum of 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience; Prior experience providing clinical supervision; Prior experience with administration or management in a clinical setting; Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical setting with clients presenting in acute distress; Experience providing clinical consultation with campus and/or key stakeholders; Demonstrated knowledge, ability, and experience effectively working with diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications:  Experience working in a university counseling center.
