Job Details
The Dartmouth College Department of Computer Science invites
applications for a full-time tenured faculty position at the rank
of Associate or Full Professor. We seek qualified candidates who
will be excellent researchers and teachers in the broad range of
areas related to cybersecurity, as part of a cluster of hires the
college has made in the area of cyber-security. We particularly
seek candidates who will help lead, initiate, and participate in
collaborative research projects within Computer Science and beyond,
including Dartmouth researchers from
other Arts & Sciences departments, Geisel School of Medicine,
Thayer School of Engineering, and Tuck School of Business.
The Computer Science department is home to 22 tenured and
tenure-track faculty members and three research faculty members,
and is committed to working towards a significant expansion in
those numbers over the next decade, in a new dedicated Computer
Science and Engineering Center whose construction is scheduled to
be complete in 2021. Research areas of the
department encompass the areas of security, computational biology,
machine learning, robotics, systems, algorithms, theory, digital
arts, vision, and graphics. The Computer Science department has
strong Ph.D. and M.S. programs and outstanding undergraduate
majors. The department’s security faculty members are affiliated
with Dartmouth’s Institute for Security, Technology, and Society
(ISTS), which also involves faculty from Government, Engineering,
Sociology, and Business.
We seek qualified candidates who have a demonstrated ability to contribute to Dartmouth’s undergraduate diversity initiatives in STEM research, such as the Women in Science Program, E. E. Just STEM Scholars Program, and Academic Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (ASURE). We are especially interested in applicants with a demonstrated track record of successful teaching and mentoring of students from all backgrounds (including first-generation college students, low-income students, racial and ethnic minorities, women, and the LGBTQ community). Applicants should state in their cover letter how their research, teaching, service, and/or life experiences prepare them to advance Dartmouth’s commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Applicants must have a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field. Please submit a cover letter and CV via Interfolio: http://apply.interfolio.com/93523 Email Sean.W.Smith@Dartmouth.edu with any questions. Application review will begin December 15, 2021 and continue until the position is filled.
