The psychology department at Salem State
University is seeking to fill two full-time, tenure-track faculty
positions in counseling or clinical psychology. Applicants for
these positions should be prepared to a) teach graduate courses in
the MS Counseling Program (e.g., introductory and advanced
counseling theories, counseling methods, legal & ethical
issues, multicultural psychology, group counseling, differential
diagnosis, marriage and family counseling theories,
practicum/internship seminar, developmental psychopathology and
other related topics); and undergraduate courses (e.g.
child and adolescent development, personality
theory, clinical psychology, and other related topics) in the
psychology department; b) maintain an active program of
scholarship/research; c) demonstrate enthusiasm to infusing
diversity, multicultural content, and social justice principles
across the university, including all course work, research,
supervision, advising & mentoring, and training; and d)
contribute to efforts to seek and maintain accreditation for the MS
Counseling program. One position will be expected to take on the
role of Graduate Program Coordinator for the MS Counseling program,
and the other position will be expected to take on the role of
Clinical Director for the program. These additional duties
for both these roles can be found below and will be compensated by
either stipend or course release. The MS Counseling Program is
currently an evening program and all classes meet after 4:30
pm.

Please Note: There are two
vacancies for this position.
Candidates are required to perform
duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching,
advising, and contributions to continuously improve the
department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit
hours per semester. The position is subject to available
funding.

- Advise graduate students and participate in information sessions
- Submit annual reports and provide leadership in graduate program review and planning, as well as developing annual program goals and objectives
- Act as a liaison between department chair, department faculty, and the School of Graduate Studies. Collaborate with SGS, graduate admissions, and marketing in promoting their program and recruiting students
- Develop course schedules and recommend them to their chair
- Develop program specific policies
- Participate in department graduate committee meetings to define expectations, curriculum implementation, and quality control
- Identify, recommend, on-board, and schedule adjunct faculty, and recommend faculty appointments to teach courses in the program
- Manage current, and build new, relationships with internship and practicum sites
- Support and mentor students through their search for an internship/practicum site
- Address any training issues that may arise at internship sites
- Hold mandatory Practicum/Internship Readiness Meetings to orient students to requirements for completing clinical training within the MS Counseling Program
- Manage ALCEA, an electronic database that lists internship sites of current and past internship trainees and on-site clinical supervisors and on-campus clinical supervisors
- Support adjunct faculty teaching practicum and internship courses
- Facilitate a weekly Supervision Consultation group of approximately 24-30 graduate students
