Position Summary:

UW Health Division of Hospital Medicine seeks qualified candidates (MD or DO or equivalent) in Internal Medicine for an Associate or Assistant Professor position on the Clinical or CHS track (both are non-tenure) at University of Wisconsin Hospital and UW Hospital at the American Center, our newest facility. Candidates must be eligible for a Wisconsin Medical License and BE/BC in Internal Medicine. Primary duties include clinical patient care and clinical teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. The incumbent will be expected to provide clinical patient care, admitting and managing hospital inpatients, including serving as staff to pre-op evaluation clinic, post-discharge rapid follow-up clinic. The incumbent will also provide medical consultation with the hospital; teach residents, medical students, fellows in relation to patients on the hospitalist service; and participate in system-wide quality improvement projects at UW Health approved locations. Opportunities for research may be available for interested candidates.

Principal Duties:

CHS track duties:
The incumbent will be expected to provide clinical patient care, admitting and managing hospital inpatients, including serving as staff to pre-op evaluation clinic, post-discharge rapid follow-up clinic. The incumbent will also provide medical consultation within the hospital; teach residents, medical students, fellows in relation to patients on the hospitalist service; and participate in system-wide quality improvement projects at UW Health approved locations. Participation in research endeavors of the Division expected.

The successful candidate will teach medical students, residents, and fellows. The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

MD or DO, or equivalent, is required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Candidates for Associate Professor rank must meet criteria for appointment rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for CHS or Clinical Track.

License or Certificate:

Must be eligible for Wisconsin medical license. Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine.

Additional Information:

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
