Position Summary:

The La Follette School is highly ranked among graduate degree public policy programs and enjoys a worldwide reputation for research and teaching. This position is responsible for providing complex financial support to the La Follette School by providing funds management and oversight. This position provides financial oversight of School and faculty accounts to ensure compliance with budgets and with university, state, and granting agency guidelines and regulations. The position works both independently under general supervision and as part of a team to manage multiple priorities and perform responsibilities accurately within time deadlines.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

No Degree Required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a finance-related field preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

At least two years of experience monitoring and auditing financial transactions.

Required Skills:
-High attention to detail
-Ability to multi-task and work quickly and accurately within strict time deadlines
-Computer literacy with experience with a wide range of financial computer software, specifically Microsoft Excel
-Proficiency in developing and maintaining financial spreadsheets
-Ability to monitor expenditures and apply policies and procedures to ensure appropriateness of charges

Preferred Skills:
-Proficiency using web-based financial software to monitor and maintain financial records
-Proficiency developing and preparing financial reports
-Knowledge of higher education accounting and financial policies and procedures, including records management
-Knowledge of process improvement techniques
-Excellent problem-solving skills, including ability to correct issues when expenditures post to the incorrect fund
