Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC) and the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care, Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin is seeking applicants for a Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant level professor (CHS) medical oncologist with a thoracic cancer clinical and research focus to join our faculty. The research focus would include health services or clinical trial research. Priority areas include genomics, precision medicine and cancer therapeutics. This position would be active in multi-disciplinary thoracic oncology programs.

The primary clinical practice will include inpatient, consult and ambulatory care at UW Hospital and Clinic locations. Responsibilities of the candidate include clinical, research, teaching medical students, residents and fellows, and potential outreach service activities.

Principal Duties:

Faculty and staff of the Department of Medicine value professionalism, patient-centeredness, compassion, respect, innovation, discovery, inclusion, diversity, teamwork, scholarship and stewardship. Duties include 50% direct patient care at UW Health's main campus, including ambulatory, inpatient and consult service attending; proactively supporting efforts to improve diversity in clinical trial participants; 50% protected time to develop and teach a research or education program and to engage in related scholarly activity.

The candidate will also have access to many shared resources and opportunities to collaborate with basic, translational and clinical researchers at the NCI-designated UW Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC), the VA Hospital and throughout the UW-Madison campus. Administrative duties including e-Consults, committees and community service may be added as appropriate to the interests of the successful candidate.

The Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care is part of the Department of Medicine and the NCI-designated UW Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Division is active in all phases of cancer therapy development and evaluation.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

MD or DO or equivalent is required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

* Clinical and research interest in medical oncology and, primarily thoracic.
* Completion of an accredited fellowship training program in Hematology/Medical Oncology.
* Candidates for Professor and Associate Professor rank (CHS) must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the CHS track.

License or Certificate:

Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine Certification in Hematology/Medical Oncology. Candidate is required to have or be eligible for a Wisconsin Medical License.

Additional Information:

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

Hire will be subject to criminal background check requirements.

A period of evaluation will be required.

Total compensation targets AAMC benchmarks by rank.
