Job Description:
The Senior Planning Associate works directly with academic,
student services and administrative staff to coordinate data and
research for planning projects, special initiatives and grants that
strengthen institutional effectiveness and promote student
success.
Duties & Responsibilities:
•Coordinates collection, analyzes and/or communicates
institutional data and other information to constituents throughout
the College to support planning projects, grants and special
initiatives
•Manages analytical research planning projects
•Works in collaboration with the Director, Department of Resource
Development Project Managers, and grant subject matter specialists
to assess data needs for new grant opportunities; generate baseline
data using MDC data systems and special purpose surveys; and meet
reporting requirements for ongoing grant projects
•Works with college academic, student services, and administrative
personnel to support the data and research needs of special
initiatives and priorities
•Monitors changes to state and federal legislation, accreditation
requirements, and higher education reforms and initiates to analyze
the potential impact on the College
•Develops a repository of internal and external promising practices
related to retention, progression, and completion related student
success initiatives
•Provides support for grant proposal development and report writing
as requested
Minimum Requirements:
•Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and
three (3) years of relevant institutional research, report writing,
and programming experience or Bachelor’s degree from a regionally
accredited institution and seven (7) years related experience
•Knowledge of institutional research, computer systems, data
storage and retrieval processes and higher education
•Proficiency in SAS programming or related programming language
(e.g., SPSS, R, STATA, SQL, etc.) and strong Microsoft Office
applications software skills
•Practical experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power
BI, Tableau, Excel, etc.)
•Demonstrable skills in quantitative and qualitative educational
research design
•Capacity to understand, analyze, and interpret Federal and State
laws, grantor guidelines, financial reports, & legal
documents
•Knowledge and demonstrable skills in project management, planning,
human relations, and consultation
