Brief Summary of Work for this Position

The D.C. Virgo Preparatory Academy ( DCVPA ) School Psychologist is responsible for academic, social, emotional and behavioral assessments using problem-solving and standardized evaluations.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Advanced degree in school psychology
  • Completion of NCSP, NASP or APR approved program in school psychology


Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of assessment methods; systematic processes to collect data, translate assessment results into empirically based decisions for service delivery and evaluation of outcomes
  • Knowledge of learning processes, appropriate instructional interventions to meet student needs and the ability to implement and assess effectiveness
  • Knowledge of behavioral mental health, collaborative and/or consultation models and methods of application
  • Bilingual skills
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention training and techniques


Required Certifications or Licensures

  • Standard Professional 2 Professional Educators License

The Watson College of Education ( WCE ) (www.uncw.edu/ed) is a growing college with over 60 tenure-track faculty members working in undergraduate and master’s programs in the Department of Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, Literacy and Special Education and the Department of Instructional Technology, Foundations and Secondary Education, and master’s and doctoral programs in the Department of Educational Leadership.
