The School of Mathematical and Data Science at West Virginia University invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-track postdoctoral research associate position starting in August 2022. The appointment will be made for two years, renewable for a third-year contingent upon continued need, funding, and favorable performance. The position offers access to resources for career development, including funding for travel to professional meetings.

The School of Mathematics and Data Science includes 25 tenured and tenure-track faculty, about 65 graduate students, and several postdoctoral scholars, and offers undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees in Mathematics. West Virginia University is a R1 research land grant university located within 90 minutes of Pittsburgh and 3.5 hours from the Washington/Baltimore area. Morgantown has been recognized as one of the most livable small cities in the U.S. There are extensive recreational opportunities, excellent public schools, and a supportive University environment in which to develop a visible and productive career. Qualifications :

The successful candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in the mathematical sciences, prior to the start date of the position and/or earned within the past 6 years, demonstrate documented potential for excellent research and teaching in mathematics. We welcome applicants with expertise that align with our current strengths in Commutative Algebra. Postdoctoral research associates are expected to be engaged in a significant way with the Commutative Algebra research ongoing at WVU and are expected to collaborate with the current faculty, as well as with the current Ph.D. students. The teaching load is two courses per semester including calculus, upper-level mathematics courses, and graduate courses in mathematics.
