Position Summary

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Buffalo is seeking a Lab Manager .This position is to support study of how synapses of the auditory system are affected by acoustic activity. This is a full-time, grant-supported position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee mouse colony: The person will maintain the lab’s mouse colony, including genotyping, setting up breeding, and maintaining breeding records.
• Laboratory oversight: The person will maintain lab areas, order supplies, and file monthly purchasing paperwork.
• Assess auditory capabilities: The person will use standard audiological techniques (ABRs and DPOAEs) to characterize the hearing of mice.
• Histology: The person will perform immunohistochemistry of brain tissue, and examine the expression of important marker proteins using fluorescence microscopy.
• Additional roles: As other scientific goals arise, additional roles may become important.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have education in a specific field and at least one year of experience directly related to the research or the program.
Preferred Qualifications

Applicants are preferred who have experience with genotyping, caring for mouse colonies, and doing immunohistochemistry.
