Texas State University is seeking an outstanding candidate to join us in preparing reflective, transformative, and equity-driven educators, leaders, and scholars in our Graduate Programs in Adult, Professional, and Community Education (APCE). This position requires teaching, research, and service. 

Specific responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in the Ph.D. and master’s programs in Adult, Professional, and Community Education. The successful candidate will teach face-to-face, hybrid courses, and fully online courses.   The successful candidate will have an emerging (Assistant Professor level) or active (Associate Professor or Professor level) research agenda and a record of service or potential for service/leadership at the program, department, university, and/or professional levels. Availability to serve as program coordinator for one of the academic programs is expected at some point, though not immediately.

Required Qualifications:         

Required qualifications for Assistant Professor rank: earned doctorate in adult education or closely related field by date of hire; experience as an educator of adults; record of, or potential for, research and publication at the national or international levels.                                                        

Required qualifications for Associate Professor rank: earned doctorate in adult education or closely related field; record of teaching a variety of adult education courses; a sustained record of research and publication in adult education-related fields at the national or international levels; leadership or service with relevant professional organizations and/or academic journals; record of conducting grant-funded research or seeking external funding; record of service on dissertation/thesis committees.   

Required qualifications for Professor rank: earned doctorate in adult education or closely related field; sustained record of research and publication in adult education-related fields at the national and international levels commensurate with the university’s research goals as well as evidence of quality teaching and leadership/service. Publications must be consistently sustained since promotion to professor. Leadership or service with relevant professional organizations and/or academic journals is expected; record of conducting grant-funded research or seeking external funding; record of service on dissertation/thesis committees.  Applicants who meet these criteria and have five years in rank as Associate Professor may be eligible for appointment at the rank of Professor.

To be eligible for hire at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, candidate must meet the requirements for that rank as established by the College of Education at Texas State University.  The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on university and department established standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications for Assistant Professor rank: record of some refereed scholarship; experience working with diverse populations and commitment to equity and inclusion; experience with/potential to build partnerships with community or work organizations; ability to teach a variety of adult education courses including graduate courses in quantitative methodology; ability to work collaboratively with faculty; record of mentoring student research; the potential for obtaining and managing external funding; willingness to collaborate on research, publication, and professional presentations with students, commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in all areas of faculty effort Interest and experience in e-leaning and instructional design.                                             

Preferred qualifications for Associate Professor rank: experience with and interest in program/curriculum leadership; ability to teach a variety of adult education courses including graduate courses in quantitative methodology; record of positive teaching evaluations; experience working  with  diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion; experience building research/education partnerships with community/work organizations; ability to work collaboratively with faculty; experience with graduate student recruitment; experience collaborating with graduate students on research, publications and/or professional presentations; commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in all areas of faculty effort; interest and experience in e-Learning and instructional design.                                                    

Preferred qualifications for Professor rank: experience with and interest in program/curriculum leadership; ability to teach a variety of adult education courses including graduate courses in quantitative methodology; record of positive teaching evaluations; experience working with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion; experience building research/education partnerships with community/work organizations; ability to work collaboratively with faculty; experience with graduate student recruitment; experience collaborating with graduate students on research, publications and/or professional presentations; commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in all areas of faculty effort; interest in eLearning and instructional design.
