Gonzaga University announces 8 tenure-track assistant professor positions in the following departments in the College of Arts and Sciences: Biology (Ecology), Communication Studies (Cultural studies, media, and rhetoric), English (Fiction and creative writing), Philosophy (Non-Anglo-European or Medieval Philosophy), Political Science (2 positions: Latin American Politics, U.S. Politics), Religious Studies (History of Christianities), and a joint appointment in Environmental Studies and Sciences/Biology (Microbial ecology or environmental microbiologist). Across disciplines we welcome collaborative, innovative teacher-scholars and colleagues committed to inclusive excellence, diversity, and equity.

Gonzaga University is committed to developing a diverse faculty, staff, and student body and to cultivating an inclusive campus community which values the expression of differences in ways that promote excellence in teaching, learning, and personal and professional development. These commitments stem from our University mission and our most central institutional values as Jesuit, Catholic and humanistic institution.

  • Inclusive excellence: a distinguishing characteristic of Jesuit higher education; we honor the inherent value and dignity of the whole person and we strive to create equity-minded and equity-focused learning experiences.
  • Supporting ‘whole people’: We strive for a campus community that empowers people to do their best work by bringing their whole, multifaceted identities to their teaching, research, departments, and learning spaces. We take seriously our responsibility to walk in solidarity with people of all social identities.
  • People for others: This charge calls us to attend to the needs of the most vulnerable and to engage in struggles for justice and equity. We encourage applications from future colleagues whose teaching, research, creative activity, and community engagement attend to issues of social inequality, systems of power and privilege, and the empowerment of individuals and groups from disenfranchised and historically marginalized populations.
  • Collaboration and growth: Gonzaga’s dedication to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice is reflected in our efforts to detect and rectify the ways we must better live up to this mission.
