Summary of Job Duties:The Financial Aid Specialist works under general supervision and is responsible for assisting the call center supervisor in counseling students and parents over the phone. This position will provide answers to callers by being familiar with federal, state, and university policies and regulations and by looking up student data in the integrated student information system. The Financial Aid Specialist will have the opportunity to visit orientation sessions on campus in order to present information concerning financial aid procedures and will work with their supervisor to assist in default management efforts.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in business administration or related field


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education
  • Customer service experience


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the organization and administration of various higher education academic and social programs
  • Knowledge of campus and community resources
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and campus rules, regulations, and requirements related to campus academic and social programs
  • A working knowledge of phone etiquette, word processing, email, spreadsheets, and database management programs
  • Ability to coordinate the activities of campus academic and/or social programs
  • Ability to evaluate collected information and formulate into recommendations
  • The ability to work as a team member
  • The ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment with good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to organize and make decisions are critical
