Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Recruitment, the Assistant Director will oversee and support freshman recruitment efforts. The Assistant Director is responsible for managing the short and long-term expectations of the Freshman and Regional Coordinators, as well as the Freshman Admissions Counselors. This position requires periodic travel throughout the year, providing presentations, college fair coverage, attending special events, and representing the University locally and regionally. The Assistant Director will gather and interpret data to ensure strategic admissions efforts are being maximized. In conjunction with the Associate Director of Recruitment, the Assistant Director will have a leadership role within the office: engaging with vendors, providing marketing ideas for web and print material, serving on committees, and attending special events and meetings when needed. This position will also assist in coordinating the admissions scholarship process and any programming related to it.

Responsibilities
  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University

Recruitment and Traveling
  • Represent the Georgia Southern experience to high school students, teachers, school counselors, and parents at various on and off-campus events
  • Present Georgia Southern's undergraduate programs, admissions requirements, tuition, and financial aid information at on and off-campus events
  • In conjunction with the Coordinator of Freshmen Recruitment, assist counselors with organizing their Fall recruitment travel season
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local school counselors, offering to provide workshops and information sessions for their students and parents
  • Maintain relationships with campus partners so they are aware of recruitment initiatives
  • Actively respond to the needs of school counselors when they request materials or request visits to their schools
  • Work closely with vendors and third-party partners to ensure that we are utilizing their services properly and annually reviewing contracts

Office Management
  • Track, report, and respond to data on undergraduate admissions numbers on a weekly basis
  • Provide training and support for new and existing team members on recruitment initiatives, such as freshman and Eagle Success requirements and policies and procedures as well as data tools and reporting (i.e. Pyramid and Business Objects)
  • Oversee the short and long term job duties and goals of the Freshman and Regional Admissions Coordinators
  • Supervise three to four full-time staff members
  • Achieve assigned team enrollment goals by guiding the Admissions Coordinators to ensure the counseling team achieves their assigned territory goals
  • Conduct undergraduate admissions campus information sessions and tours as needed
  • Implement plans for proactive follow up with students at every stage of the admissions funnel (prospects, inquiries, applicants, admits, SOAR)
  • Work with the Office of Financial Aid to ensure the Admissions Coordinators and Counselors have a general understanding of the financial aid process
  • Give clear details to prospective students, parents, and educators about Georgia Southern's admissions procedures and policies regarding first-time freshman and dual-enrolled students

Programming
  • In conjunction with the Associate Director of Recruitment and the Assistant Director of Events and Visits, assist with planning and managing aspects of on- and off-campus admissions events
  • Working with individual colleges, develop and implement on- and off-campus college-specific programming to support enrollment efforts as needed
  • Develop and implement yield activities to involve faculty, staff, and alumni in order to convince admitted students to enroll at Georgia Southern University

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree

Required Experience
  • Four (4) years of related work experience
  • Experience recruiting undergraduate students to a college or university

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
  • Master's degree

Preferred Experience
  • Six or more years of related work experience
  • Two (2) years of experience supervising full-time employees

Proposed Salary
$44,400 - $49,500
