CHOOSE OHIO
Based on extensive benchmarking data the Associate Vice President of Budget (AVPB) position has approximate target hiring range of $153,413 – $210,942. The exact base salary for the selected candidate will be negotiable, commensurate with education and experience, and competitive in the field within the context of similarly situated positions at public universities in the state of Ohio and beyond.

LEADERSHIP PROFILE
As an engaged member of the vice president’s leadership team, and as a key University-wide collaborator and leader, the Associate Vice President of Budget oversees the University budget process by directing the office of Budget Planning and Analysis, and by preparing and monitoring the progress of the University’s annual operating budget and capital budget in alignment with strategic institutional priorities. The AVPB serves as a key communicator, working with University stakeholders at all levels, including financial leaders, to provide guidance, analysis, and expertise relevant to the University budget process, reporting, and financial decision making.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
The AVPB’s key responsibilities will focus on six major areas:

  1. Direct support to executive leadership;
  2. University leadership through the creation and maintenance of budgeting tools, models, templates, and guidance;
  3. Collaborative analysis and decision making;
  4. Engagement with internal and external stakeholders and partners;
  5. Representation of Ohio University in relevant external councils and committees;
  6. Oversight and leadership of the Budget Planning and Analysis team.

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate must have a master’s degree in Finance or related field and at least 15 years of direct budgeting, financial policy and planning, including at least six years in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Additionally, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate strong financial analytical skills, including a documented ability to utilize and create budgeting tools, expert abilities with Microsoft Excel, and advanced abilities with database software.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing a decentralized budgeting model, a demonstrated understanding of central resource allocation models, and a demonstrated ability to articulate high-level revenue and expense drivers for a complex, public University.
