Centenary College of Louisiana invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in the Kinesiology Department beginning August 2022. This is a new academic program and we are seeking candidates who are committed to growing the department through development and assessment of quality coursework, creation of hands-on learning and lab experiences for students, and building relationships across campus and the community.

Centenary College is especially interested in candidates that can contribute to and/or coordinate course offerings, scholarship, and service that address the experiences of underrepresented minorities and contribute to the diversity and excellence of our college community. Women, minorities, veterans, and people with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching and scholarship in kinesiology, be deeply committed to teaching at a liberal arts institution, and be willing to direct an active research program that involves undergraduate students. Priority will be given to candidates with an interest in biomechanics and/or motor control or related disciplines. Candidates must be able to teach Biomechanics and Motor Learning, as well as other lower- and upper-level courses in Kinesiology, such as Exercise Assessment and Prescription and Principles of Strength & Conditioning. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is expected.  A Ph.D. in Kinesiology or other appropriate field is required.

The College has a well-equipped core molecular facility and opportunities for collaborative research exist at the nearby Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. There are excellent funding opportunities, and the College has a high success rate in securing funds for teaching and research.

Centenary recognizes that diversity is essential to its goal of providing an educational environment where students explore the unfamiliar, invent new approaches to understanding, and connect their work and lives to the world at large. We thus welcome applicants who would add to the College's diversity of ideas, beliefs, experiences, and cultural backgrounds. EOE.

For full consideration, applications should be submitted by December 1, 2021. Applicants should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, unofficial transcripts, and the names, telephone numbers, and email addresses of three references. Candidate materials should address experience and/or commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds and to advancing the College’s commitment to diversity. Official transcripts, three letters of recommendation, and a background check are required before a candidate can be hired.
