The biostatistician participates in research design, data collection and statistical interpretation of study results. Works with students and investigators individually and in groups to introduce statistical concepts, probability theory, data management and analysis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in research design, data collection and analysis
  • Select and implement clinical research methodologies
  • Analyze and interpret study results
  • Work with research faculty to publish papers, manuscripts and contribute to preparation of grant submissions
  • Design and develop research databases
  • Develop and deliver educational experiences, including in-person and online courses
  • Mentor faculty, post-doctoral fellows and students in biostatistics; introduce statistical software
  • Act as biostatistician on student projects
  • Develop and manage educational and evaluative experiences for a diverse population of students
  • Assess student learning outcomes and make or recommend appropriate course or program modifications based on results
  • Acquire new knowledge and skills for the practice of natural medicine, biostatistics, and/or other areas of content expertise as appropriate
  • Review, update, and maintain syllabi in collaboration with other faculty and administrators in accordance with NUNM policies, procedures, and practices
  • Engage in scholarly activities, professional development, University services and activities
  • Attend and participate in all required meetings
  • Participate in graduation activities and other public, professional activities as sponsored by the department or University.
  • Be professional in all respects and especially, in the preparation, presentation and conduct of biostatistics duties and assignments.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Requires a PhD in biostatistics, epidemiology or bioinformatics with experience in observational and clinical trial methods. Familiarity with different statistical designs, concepts and procedures that are commonly used in clinical and integrative medicine research. Familiarity with data management and statistical software. Past teaching experience is strongly recommended.
