The Department of History at the UW-Madison invites
applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor
position in Southeast Asian History beginning August 2022.
Southeast Asian History. This position is part of a
multi-disciplinary hiring cluster connected to a campus initiative
focused on Social Justice in Southeast Asia. Time period and
sub-field open but with a preference for research and teaching
strengths in gender/sexuality history. Applicants must have
advanced language skills in one or more Southeast Asian languages
and relevant archival/historical research experience.
The successful candidate will actively engage in the intellectual
life of our large history faculty with temporally, geographically,
and methodological diverse interests, as well as embrace
departmental commitments to undergraduate and graduate education.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate
courses, mentor students, engage in significant ongoing research
and publication, and perform department, university and community
services as appropriate for faculty rank.
