Central Michigan University is seeking a librarian to join the CMU
Libraries as our Arts, Media, and Design Librarian at the rank of
Assistant Professor. This position serves in the Library Research
and Instruction Services (LRIS) department and reports to the
Associate Dean of University Libraries. Service on library and
university committees and participation in the CMU Libraries’
strategic planning efforts are required. This is a 12-month
tenure-track faculty position, and the individual in it will be
expected to meet the university’s requirements for reappointment,
tenure, and promotion, including scholarship and service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides specialized library instruction and research consultations
for students within the College of the Arts and Media and the
College of Education and Human Services. Programs include but are
not limited to Art and Design, Broadcast and Cinematic Arts,
Communication, Fashion Merchandising and Design, Interior Design,
Provides general reference services, including virtual reference,
to support all students and faculty.
Works closely with the library’s Adobe Digital Lounge to support
student development of digital
Provides research support for faculty including literature
Consults with faculty during the online course development
process to recommend and embed appropriate library services and
Serves over 2,000 students and over 90 faculty in arts, media, and
design degree programs.
Develops and assesses arts, media, and design collections
(journals, books, media, etc.).
Teaches LIB 197, a one credit information literacy course, on a
Participates in library projects and initiatives.
Serves on library and university committees and within the academic
Actively engages in scholarly and/or creative endeavors.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications; minimum $58,500.
