West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Neuroradiology and West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute seek a Neuroradiologist (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.

Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the area of neuroradiology. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, it is expected that candidates sustain an outstanding, extramurally supported research program.

Qualifications: Applicants must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license. Candidates must be ABR and Neuroradiology CAQ certified/eligible with fellowship training in diagnostic neuroradiology. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications. The selected candidate should demonstrate a commitment to building a strong academic career and to excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, a demonstrated track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high-impact journals is required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

The West Virginia University Neuroradiology Department is an innovative initiative and one of the first in the country. It continues the integration of neurological care, research, and education under the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute. The department offers the full gamut of advanced neuroimaging services that underpin all facets of clinical and academic neurosciences – from early diagnosis to neuroimaging guided brain therapies for a wide range of functional and cognitive disorders. The department manages a large magnetic resonance imaging operation and provides consultation services to the entire health system.

An imaging analytics and informatics division of the department is spearheading initiatives in artificial intelligence and federated research. This has the potential to transform multicenter research collaboration, clinical trials, and utilizing big data to improve patient care. Our mission is to provide excellent patient care, quality education, and exceptional service to the state of West Virginia and surrounding communities.

The department has a nationally recognized Neurointerventional program for state-of-the-art management of cerebrovascular disorders and stroke. Participation and leadership in innovative clinical trials has put this program at the forefront of minimally invasive treatment of head, neck, and spine pathologies.

The department has two accredited fellowship programs, a diagnostic neuroradiology fellowship accredited by the ACGME and an endovascular neurosurgery fellowship accredited by CAST.

The WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute guides a team of 170 dedicated faculty in providing compassionate patient care and advanced medicine through education, research, and outreach in the many diverse communities we serve. The Institute spearheads efforts to develop innovative solutions for neurological and psychiatric conditions ranging from Alzheimer’s to Parkinson’s; autism to stroke; and paralysis to chronic pain, addictions, and traumatic brain injury.

WVU Medicine, the state’s largest health system and largest private employer, is comprised of 13 hospitals throughout WV with the flagship academic medical center, West Virginia University/J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, located in Morgantown. The system also provides management services to five additional hospitals.
