The Department of Environmental and Global Health in the College of Public Health and Health Professions at the University of Florida is recruiting a non-tenure track faculty member at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. Ideally, the candidate will be engaged in research in the area of aerosol virology and respiratory health. Particular areas of emphasis include research that focuses on viral aerosol sampling and surveillance, viral discovery and understanding molecular mechanisms of disease in cell- and animal-based models. Formal training in BSL3 viral work is essential. The individual will also interface with the Global Pathogens Discovery Laboratory. In addition to research, the candidate may be expected to teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels such as Environmental Health Concepts, Public Health in Pop Culture, and Virology for Public Health. The position is supported by a competitive salary and start-up package. This is a 1.0 FTE, 12-month position, expected to start Fall 2021.

The College of Public Health and Health Professions is in the University's Health Science Center, which also includes the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, and Veterinary Medicine. The Health Science Center also partners with the immediately adjacent UF Health Shands Hospital, and Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, and the UF Health Science Center Regional campus located in Jacksonville, FL. Additional major institutes and centers located at the University of Florida include the Emerging Pathogens Institute, the Institute of Child Health Policy, the UF Health Cancer Center, the UF Genetics Institute, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute and the McKnight Brain Institute, all of which provide state-of-the-art environments and access to large data sets for faculty collaboration.

Minimum requirements: A doctoral degree in an environmental or global health-related field.

Preferred qualifications: Evidence of research and BSL3 viral work experience is essential and experience in environmental health teaching preferred.
