Late Night Public Services Assistant
Location: Moscow
Division/College: General Library (Div)

Pay Range: $14.05 - $15.84 per hour or more depending on experience
Full/Part Time: Full Time
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Access Services Librarian, the incumbent works with the Access Services team to oversee and support student employees during evening and night shifts; circulate materials and assist library users; coordinate U of I Summit consortial lending and borrowing operations; participate in maintaining the safety and security of the library building during night hours; coordinate with data and digital services personnel to load, update, and maintain data in the Library's digital platforms; and assist the Access Services Librarian with special projects.
The incumbent will work the following shifts or similar:
Academic year: Sunday - Thursday, 5:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m.
Holiday breaks: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Summer: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
(Hours may vary slightly depending on staffing needs.)
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience using computer software and applications for word processing, email, internet searches, and data organization.
- Experience working in a team environment to accomplish shared goals.
- Experience reading, understanding, and following complex procedures and workflows.
- Experience and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
- Experience executing tasks that require excellent attention to detail.
- Experience working in an environment that requires excellent customer service.
- Experience interpreting, following, and explaining complex policy and standards.
- Experience working independently and making decisions with limited supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to supervise and delegate tasks to student employees.
- Experience working with the public.
- Experience or knowledge of an academic library.
- Working Knowledge of current library terminology and functions; library classification schemes.
- Ability to adapt to varying daily responsibilities and prioritize work effectively.
- Commitment to continuous learning and flexibility to changes in the work environment.
- Experience communicating effectively with supervisor and peers.
- Experience creating, editing, and transforming metadata.
- Experience with linked data, semantic web applications, ontologies, and RDF.
