Position Function

Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Partner, the Associate Human Resources Partner will facilitate and oversee UHRS processes such as employment advertising, metrics, and reports; serve as an HR liaison for assigned customer areas; advise and counsel employees, supervisors, and administrators regarding university policies and state and federal laws and regulations that impact the human resources functions; provide guidance regarding talent acquisition, retention, classification, compensation and other related Human Resources matters, an serve on and lead HR project teams.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; an Associate’s degree and two additional years of experience or four years of additional work experience will be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.

Minimum Experience

At least one year of experience (either full or part-time) in an office and/or professional setting, with some experience in human resources.

Minimum Other

Excellent customer service skills; Ability to interact and communicate with all levels within the organization; Ability to problem solve and adapt quickly to changing circumstances; Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; excellent oral and written communication skills.

Authorization to work in the US

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Education

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field.

Preferred Experience

Work experience in human resources performing work related to the recruitment function. Experience working in higher education or the public sector.

Preferred Other

Pre-Employment Screening

Requires successful completion of a background check and education verification.

Job Duty

Administer the employment, promotion, and transfer process for temporary and staff positions in assigned areas according to university policies and procedures. Review requests to fill temporary and staff vacancies; review and edit position descriptions. Attend job fairs. Monitor recruitment pools to determine if additional recruitment efforts are needed. Utilize metrics to evaluate recruiting performances and improve recruiting initiatives.

Determine applicant qualifications; refer candidates to appropriate supervisors; determine salary/wage rates for new hires and transfers, and verify employment eligibility for new hires.

Compose job advertisements and review ad placements to ensure that effective recruiting sources are being utilized. Proofread for accuracy and approve final ad copy; approve ad costs; email ad copy to appropriate media; place online ads internally and externally; verify advertising invoices; prepare and maintain search files.

Run Argos and Banner reports and compile a variety of metrics to include advertising cost per hire, effective recruiting sources, time to fill, turnover, etc. Format and prepare reports for the Senior Executive Director and assist with communication and distribution.

Collaborate with HR Partners with employment processes for summer camps to include run and review background checks, perform I-9 verifications and with other required paperwork and processes.

Interview, select, assign and review work, orient and train student employee(s), and make recommendations as to performance appraisal, and discipline.

Plan, organize and oversee the annual recognition and retirement award ceremonies for staff/service employees and retirees; work closely with Marketing and Communications and vendor(s) to evaluate and maintain appropriate award selections; secure venues and emcees, coordinate with University Catering, photographers, florist, and the School of Music; monitor ticket distribution/sales via the CASHnet online system and meet mandatory annual PCI DSS training requirement for utilization of the CASHnet system; prepare scripts/agendas for presenters; prepare certificates; provide cabinet members with division reports of eligible University Meritorious Service Award ( UMSA ) staff; collaborate with Staff Council officers as needed; Oversee and coordinate event day setup and post-event follow-up activities regarding items such as award distribution and invoicing.

Initiate and participate in cross-functional work teams in order to improve HR processes and programs. Participate in all phases of implementation; includes design, build, validation, rollout as well as ongoing communication and training; serve as project lead as assigned.
