Assistant Professor (WOT), University of Washington, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine & Director, Regional Amputation Center, VA Puget Sound Health Care System | Seattle, WA

OVERVIEW

The University of Washington's Department of Rehabilitation Medicine invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor WOT (without tenure by reason of funding), commensurate with experience and qualifications, on the clinician-educator pathway, to serve as Director of the Regional Amputation Center at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS). This position has a 12-month service period (July 1 – June 30), with an anticipated start date in fall 2021 or winter 2022.

The successful candidate will join our excellent team of 20 physiatrists within the Rehabilitation Care Service Line at VAPSHCS and our faculty in the UW Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. The Regional Amputation Center at VAPSHCS, which includes three physiatrists, prosthetist/orthotists, and an amputation rehabilitation coordinator, is one of seven specialized clinical centers for limb loss rehabilitation within the VA Amputation System of Care. VAPSHCS also has a well-established amputation rehabilitation fellowship (one of few in the United States). In addition to excellence in clinical care and education, VAPSHCS houses the VA Rehabilitation Research & Development Center for Limb Loss and Mobility (CLiMB), a nationally renowned research center with MD and PhD principal investigators, VA Career Development and Research Career Scientist awardees, and approximately $30M in grant funding over the past five years.

The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and the VA Puget Sound Health Care System are committed to an inclusive environment and to reducing inequities in patient care through education, research, leadership, and excellence in clinical care. We strongly believe that diversity enriches training and scientific discovery, fosters excellence, and promotes the best healthcare.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

This position is paid directly by the VA and does not include UW salary support.
