The Center for European and Mediterranean Studies in Arts and
Science at New York University invites applicants for a Faculty
Fellow position in the field of European Studies. The initial
appointment will be for one year beginning September 1, 2022,
renewable annually for a maximum of three years, pending
administrative and budgetary approval.
CEMS/NYU seeks a scholar experienced in advising
student research and specializing in one or more of the
following fields: comparative European politics, anthropology,
sociology, or contemporary European history. We are particularly
interested in candidates whose research and teaching focuses
on the European Union; on political, economic and social
developments in contemporary Europe; and/or on identity and
minorities in Europe.
Responsibilities include teaching three courses per year, with a
focus on undergraduate and graduate seminars. Student advising is a
key component of this position, as the faculty fellow will have a
significant role in directing theses for both MA students and
undergraduate honors students. Service to the program will also
involve representing the Center at university occasions and
committee meetings. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to
interdisciplinary scholarship and excellence in teaching.
Qualifications: Candidates should have completed their Ph.D.
no earlier than 2017 and no later than August 1, 2022.
