Job Description Summary
The Law and Taxation Department at Bentley University invites
applicants for a tenure track position to begin fall 2022. The
chosen candidate will teach both undergraduate and graduate law
courses with a business focus. The standard teaching load for the
tenure-track years is 2-2 (two courses per semester), with an
expectation of an increased teaching load of 3-3 upon successful
achievement of tenure. The chosen candidate will be expected to
publish high quality and impactful scholarship in respected
academic and/or practitioner journals.
As guided by our Academic Affairs Diversity, Equity, &
Inclusion Strategic Plan, Bentley University seeks to enhance our
faculty capacity in the scholarship, pedagogy, and engagement
related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. To achieve
that, we are hiring a cohort of new faculty in multiple academic

Assistant Professors are expected to focus primarily on teaching
and scholarship during their tenure-track years but are also
expected, to a limited degree, to engage in service to the
University and/or to participate in curriculum development, as
requested by the Department Chair from time to time. While class
sizes may vary, Law courses are generally capped at 35
students.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates for this
position should have demonstrated excellence in teaching and
evidence of promise in producing high quality and impactful
scholarship, including the ability to publish in law reviews or
other widely respected academic journals. Dedication to scholarship
is required for promotion and tenure.
Candidates also should ideally have a proven recent track record of
teaching both undergraduate and graduate law courses within a
business program/curriculum. Proven ability to teach other
undergraduate and/or graduate law elective courses within
undergraduate business curricula and/or MBA programs will be
considered favorably. The candidate must have excellent academic
credentials, including a J.D., admission to practice in one state's
jurisdiction, three years relevant work experience and a minimum of
three years of university level teaching experience.
The successful applicant will be expected to be an engaged
participant in the Law and Taxation Department and in the wider
Bentley community. Applicants must also be familiar with Blackboard
and Zoom or have a willingness to learn. Bentley University makes
