Job Description

The ASU Evidence Commons aims to provide clear and easy access to comprehensive data on planned, active and completed research, operational, and clinical studies of COVID-19 related tests and protocols. Evidence Commons is seeking a Research Data Manager to advance and manage all aspects of research to successfully construct an internationally robust and interactive repository of research publications on COVID tests and test protocols. This initiative advances prior work of the ASU COVID-19 Diagnostics Commons and is supported by a grant from The Rockefeller Foundation.

 

Salary Range

$56,600 - $58,500 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

  • Collect and organize COVID test related research publications
  • Develop and manage processes to collect, share and document research datasets
  • Develop and apply informatics methods, approaches, and processes to innovate and refine how data are collected, organized, curated and made accessible to a diverse community of consumers. 
  • Acquire insights about COVID testing protocols, contribute to networking activities of stakeholders, and report results in the form of academic papers.
  • Collaborate with other university research data professionals to share and grow research data management skills through a community of practice.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND two (2) years of relevant experience developing and using database technologies, data management and distribution, procedural programming for science (e.g., Matlab, R, SAS) and/or website interfacing in a research setting, OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in using data analysis/ statistical modelling skills
  • Data visualization skills including PowerPoint and Excel 
  • Experience in using PowerPoint and Excel 
  • Experience in using statistical software packages such as STATA or R
  • Knowledge of web content management systems interfacing with relational database systems using common programming languages and processing and communications software in support of research and public data dissemination
  • Ability to use a variety of research databases
  • Flexible, able to work independently and have a problem-solving attitude. 
  • Ability to work as a member of a research team and represent the team at science and technology meetings.
  • Evidence of effective verbal and written communication
  • Experience working on large-scale grants or funded projects
  • Experience in taking action to mitigate conflict
  • Ability to establish priorities and proceed with objectives
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high-intensity, decentralized work environments

The current training programs include behavioral health, biomedical diagnostics, biomedical informatics, exercise science, health promotion, health sciences, kinesiology, medical studies, nutrition, population health, science of health care delivery, and speech and hearing science. Our programs are offered at ASU's Downtown Phoenix, Tempe, Polytechnic, West and Lake Havasu campuses, as well as on Mayo Clinic's campus in north Phoenix.
