Job Summary

Manage and coordinate the operations of a unit or initiative of the university.

Responsibilities

Auxiliary operations are financially self-supporting entities requiring that the services provided meet a student focused mission, a diversified product offering, and strong fiscal management. The Manager of Accounting for Auxiliary Services and Auxiliary Services Real Estate Foundation will directly support the Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration and the overall Auxiliary Services department by ensuring accurate financial accounting, asset management, budgeting, and related processes for Auxiliary Services including Bookstore, Dining Services, Vending, Parking & Transportation, 1Card Services, Housing, Health Services and the Auxiliary Services Real Estate Foundation.

Typical Allocation of Duties:

Supervision of personnel - 30%
Supervise personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions.

Manage and participate - 15%
Manage and participate in the daily operations of an assigned unit.

Implementation - 15%
Develop or assist with the implementation of policies and procedures, systems, and processes.

Researches new trends and developments - 15%
Research new trends and developments; presents recommendations as required.

Participate in planning and goal setting - 10%
Participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of short-and long-range plans and goals.

Develop and implement projects and programs - 10%
Develop and implement projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.

Department representative - 5%
Represent the department at various meetings, and committees; promote existing and new programs and/or policies.

Please note that this position is primarily responsible for managing complex financial and project-based initiatives and will not have any direct reports to supervise .

Supervisor Expectations:

  • Preferred Certified Public Accountant
  • Serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the Auxiliary Services Real Estate Foundation
  • Assists in high level business decisions by performing financial analysis and making recommendations to AVP
  • Manage and participate in accounting processes and daily operations of Auxiliary Services and Auxiliary Services Real Estate Foundation
  • Leads annual audit and the filing of tax documents with external auditing firm for both FASB and GASB statements of the VSU Auxiliary Services Real Estate Foundation.
  • Coordinates semi-annual Board of Trustees meetings and Audit Committee meeting.
  • Maintains Foundation financial transactions using QuickBooks and reconciles bank statements.
  • Coordinates the payments for Foundation-owned facility repairs and insurance claims.
  • Prepares PPV cash flow statements submitted to the University System of Georgia.
  • Prepares PPV cash flow projections submitted to the University System of Georgia.
  • Participates in annual five-year business planning process
  • Participates in quarterly facilities planning process
  • Monitors timely submission of compliance reports, such as MSRB disclosure, lease renewal notices, bond arbitrage, UCC statements, MOUs, facilities assessments, etc.
  • Insures bond payments are made, corporate registrations are filed, insurance policies are current, and property taxes are paid.
  • Reconciles various accounts of VSU Auxiliary Services using Excel and PeopleSoft.

 

Required Qualifications

Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in a specified field and three (3) years of related work experience. Professional licensure, certification, and/or designation may be required in some areas.

Conditions of Employment

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. Position May Require Credit Check (if using P-Card, working with Cash, etc.).

Position Requires completion of VSU’s Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest/ Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker’s Compensation.
