JOB DESCRIPTION

The Vice President for Communications & Marketing provides vision and leadership for the University's integrated marketing and communication operation. The role leads an integrated team focused on the development, implementation and assessment of marketing and brand strategies to enhance the admissions funnel and institutional brand. This position engages with departments and business units throughout the campus community. The role oversees creative services and marketing strategy across multiple media channels.

Working closely with the University President, members of the President's Cabinet, and other members of the University Communications and Marketing leadership team, the Vice President for Communications & Marketing maintains a progressive, unified, metrics-driven organization dedicated to serving the institution's interests, including those of the students, faculty, staff, alumni, influencers and partners. Demonstrates and inspires a team-building work environment, motivates staff and cultivates productive relationships across the University to innovate, collaborate, and reach and exceed goals.

Oversees all team efforts for print and digital marketing, design and production, alumni publications, media and public relations, internal communications, and interactive and social media. The role evaluates strategic planning needs within the department and monitors whether or not team and individual progress is on target.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identifies, develops, and executes strategies to advance the University brand and reputation to support enrollment and program goals
  • Provides direct supervision, oversight, and direction to teams responsible for marketing, design, video, photography, licensing, analytics, and the University's primary Web site
  • Plays a central role in achieving the University's goal of ensuring effective engagement with the institution's many core constituents and helping the University retain and improve on its position as an innovative and leading private university
  • Oversees the institution's paid advertising efforts, leading the team through concept, messaging, and development of campaigns that reinforce the University's goals and build brand awareness and affinity with key audiences
  • Collaborates with Admissions, Enrollment, Information Technology, and other University departments to ensure consistent and high availability of infrastructure supporting essential web-based communications applications
  • Coordinates project teams and external resources to ensure clarity of overall University positioning and branding, consistency of messaging, and effective production of multi-platform content


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Eight (8) to ten (10) years of supervisory experience in a communications or marketing environment
  • Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization required; Master's degree or other industry-specific certifications preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective counsel to an organization relating to its marketing and communications strategies
