REPORTS TO: Chief Communications Officer

Sidwell Friends, a coeducational Quaker day school, seeks a full-time Communications Coordinator to work with the Communications Department, located on its DC campus. The Communications Coordinator (CC) serves a key role in organizing the office and ensuring productive campus collaborations. As an analytical thinker, she/he/they is a highly organized project manager, clear communicator, and a communications professional willing to learn about and assist with digital communications, marketing, and print production. The CC acts as a key liaison for the Communications Office to help move along initiative planning, projects tasks, assist with the upkeep of communications and marketing plans, and keep projects on deadline. The CC also keeps publication schedules on track, vendor relations balanced, office organization on Asana, and the centralized communications calendar updated. The CC also serves to act as the executive assistant to the Chief Communications Officer when needed.

The CC must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with an ear and eye for great communications and marketing. Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, she/he/they will p erform other tasks as assigned.

Project Management
  • Coordinate communications and marketing plans (i.e. annual, semester, monthly, weekly) and project updates in Asana and within the Communications team; ensures information is accurate in Asana and deadlines are met.
  • Act as a trusted liaison with campus partners by collaborating and communicating status updates.
  • Coordinate intake of project requests, confers with the CCO and Directors on priorities.
  • Manages vendor relations with photographers, printers, and external companies.
  • Schedules team meetings and takes notes; facilitating and organizing other meetings when needed.
  • Organizes the office operations, such as email boxes and responses, team drive, photo library, policies, protocols, etc.
Digital Communications and Production Coordination
  • Assists and coordinates social media and website updates as assigned.
  • Manages the parent, student, and faculty/staff portals, as well as ensuring messages and content are uploaded in a timely manager.
  • Manages digital channels (i.e., SmugMug, Vimeo) as needed and ensuring tag and data management.
  • Assists with email distribution and managing the website; ensures online directories are current.
  • Supports production schedules including the magazine and all electronic publications as needed.
  • Supports the assessment of data and analytics to measure trends and improve reporting.
  • Assists with the print schedules, production calendar and tasks.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Must have 3-5 years project management or communications experience for a similar organization, preferably in education or non-profit.
  • Must be a good writer; occasional proofing required.
  • Must have experience managing digital communications, including webpages, emails, social media, photos and digital assets, metadata, and analytics.
  • Strong sense of organization and highly reliable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Experience managing print production and design is highly preferable .
  • Strong experience using the Adobe Creative Suite (i.e., InDesign, Illustrator, LightRoom, Bridge, and Photoshop), collaboration tools (e.i., Asana, Slack, Google Drive, Office suite, Outlook).
  • A desire to learn and a sense of humor are required.
