Job Summary
Provide leadership to all academic areas so they reflect the mission of the institution. Advocate for all academic
programs, providing leadership to faculty and academic staff to ensure consistent quality standards in
curriculum and programs that meet the needs of students. Oversee the academic integrity of the college and
provide leadership in the following: long-range planning, budgeting; program/curriculum development,
program assessment, management of the College's online courses, programs, LMS support for all online adjuncts
and faculty and institutional research. Ensure compliance with various accreditation agencies as well as state
accreditation and regulations.

Results
When this job is performed well, the following results will be created:
  • Fulfillment of the Strategic Plan, Academic Annual Timeline, and Quarterly Objectives and Key Results
  • (OKRs)
  • Annual programmatic growth (student enrollment increases YoY) in both existing programs and through the continuous development of new programs
  • Continuous improvement in student retention, persistence, graduation, and placement rates
  • Impeccable institutional standing with external accrediting agencies

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Academic Affairs Leadership 
Serve as the Senior Executive for Academic Affairs providing leadership for all academic programs,
departments, and units
  • Advise the President on all matters related to Academic Affairs
  • Coordinate and provide academic leadership to the President for the development and implementation of the Strategic Planning process
  • Provide oversight to the development and implementation of Departmental Objectives + Key Results (OKRs) and ensure that these responsibilities are met and revisited during Quarterly Review Meetings (QRMs)
  • Provide quarterly reports to the Board of Directors and serve as the Chairperson for the Board of Directors’ Academic Affairs Subcommittee
  • Provide leadership in matters of academic policy and administration and regularly advise the President on these matters
  • Provide oversight of the generation, review, publication, and administration of the annual Academic Affairs Handbook and the RMCAD Catalog; ensure campus-wide compliance with both documents
  • Work cross-departmentally to impact practices for continuous improvement in student retention, persistence, graduation, and placement rates
  • Conduct annual budget planning, development, implementation, and oversight for the following budgets: Academic Affairs, Faculty Affairs, Instructional Costs, Instructional Design, and Program Departments
  • Review and approve academic departmental expenditures
  • Serve as the primary signatory for student stipend and accounts payable checks
  • Coordinating with the Dean of Students, provide support to: the student formal complaint process, faculty investigations, the Student Government Association (SGA), and new student orientations and Q&As
  • Collaborating with the Director of Business Analytics, ensure that the End-of-Course Surveys are conducted on a term basis, and review and identify action items and initiatives for continuous improvement in instruction and curriculum.
  • Ensure action items and initiatives are carried out through the Quarterly OKRs or addressed through management and the Human Resources Department
  • Develop and implement processes for maintaining Institutional Research for the College that provides for continued institutional improvement
  • Promote quality and shared faculty governance through the initiation, generation, review, and implementation of committee charters
Faculty Affairs 
Provide oversight to the Office of Faculty Affairs and work with the Dean of Faculty + Program Department
Chairs + Heads to:
  • Facilitate appropriate program development and curriculum for all learning modalities
  • Conduct regular, systematic review of programs to ensure instructional and curricular quality and current course content
  • Approve faculty hiring, credentialing, training, mentoring/coaching/training, evaluations, and disciplinary
  • action
  • Ensure faculty preparedness and professional development and growth
  • Ensure term prep setup
  • Ensure compliance with required departmental activities, which result in measurable goals; these include: all faculty meetings, term departmental student and faculty meetings, annual curricular summits, quarterly review meetings (QRMs), and program advisory boards
  • Provide oversight and approval to the annual Professional Development Plan (PDP) process
  • Provide oversight and approval to the semester Faculty Professional Development Grants
  • Review and approve the assigning of courses, course releases, and non-instructional assignments to full and part-time faculty
Academic Support Services 
Provide oversight to the Director of Academic Support Services and coordinate in the effective and efficient
use of and planning for:
  • Generating the academic annual timeline
  • Composing, reviewing, and producing the annual RMCAD Catalog
  • Classroom facilities planning, improvement (in coordination with Program Department Chairs, the Vice President of Operations, and Facilities)
  • Preparation of the annual, semester, and term class schedule
  • Generation of the annual schedule and sequence sheets (known as Tetris) (This includes training the Vice President of Operations as well as the Advising and Registrar’s Office)
  • Participating in course scrubs and approving the final class schedule including student registration numbers
  • Providing oversight for the annual program and schedule build
  • Providing oversight for term prep setup
Curriculum Development 
Provide oversight and planning for Curriculum Development initiatives, including: new program development
research, writing, SME/Chair/Lead Faculty hiring, for accreditors, new program builds, and implementation
  • Provide oversight to curricular revisions submitted to the Curriculum Committee
  • Ensure all curricular initiatives meet accreditation + compliance requirements
Program Review and Assessment 
Provide oversight and planning for Program Review and Assessment Activities including: regular (term)
course-level assessment, regular (term) co-curricular assessment, annual program review activities, four-year
comprehensive program review, and programmatic competitive analyses
Online Learning  Responsible for evaluating and assessing the learning outcomes for Online Learning
  • Provide oversight to the Instructional Design process
  • Provide oversight for the Faculty Certification course including teacher assignments, instructor enrollment, and the conferring of certificate and provides direction for the skill development of online faculty to use instructional technology and software.
  • Manage the online annual course planning process in collaboration with Student Services, Department
  • Chairs, and the Curriculum Committee. Recommends changes, as needed, to the online education staff.
  • Collaborate with IT to recommend and evaluate technologies relevant to online learning
Accreditation + Compliance  Provide oversight to the Office of Accreditation + Compliance and coordinate with the accreditation efforts to:
  • Prepare and compose reports to various accrediting agencies including comprehensive evaluation reports, substantive change initiatives, and policy initiatives and reports
  • Ensure annual compliance and alignment with accrediting standards (HLC, NASAD, CIDA, CDE/CDHE) through annual program review initiatives, assessment activities, and curricula initiatives
  • Serve as the Academic Affairs representative for Title IX in the Conduct Review Board, Sanctions, and Appeals Processes
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. required
  • 3+ years experience as a Dean or Provost
  • 4+ years experience with multiple accreditation agencies required
  • Experience with NASAD and HLC preferred
  • Strategic Planning experience
  • Comprehension of best practices in student learning and assessment
  • Budget management experience
  • Able to effect solid college decisions based on data and metrics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • 4+ years of college-level teaching experience
