The Wheelock College of Education and Human Development at Boston University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Applied Human Development.  The Counseling Psychology and Applied Human Development Department believes that the cultural and social diversity of our faculty, staff, and students is vitally important to the distinction and excellence of our research and academic programs. To that end, we are especially eager to have join our ranks a colleague who supports our institutional commitment to ensuring BU is inclusive, equitable, diverse, and a place where all constituents can thrive.

The successful candidate will have a clearly defined program of research, and will engage in teaching and service that advances our college mission to transform systems that impact learning and human development for a just world.  Specifically, we seek a candidate whose scholarly focus is in social and/or emotional development in adolescence, particularly as situated in social, cultural, or school-based contexts.  We especially welcome applicants with an emerging rigorous program of research focusing on diverse populations, populations outside the United States, or racial/ethnic, cultural, or socioeconomic influences on social and/or emotional development, and whose research has clear implications for educational practice and policy.  Candidates will teach courses at the Master’s and Ph.D. levels, which may include those focused on Lifespan Development, Social Bases of Behavior, Culture, Ethnicity, & Race, or Quantitative/Qualitative Methods.

This Assistant Professor position begins July 1, 2022. Applicants from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
