The John Chambers College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University (WVVU) invites applicants for a non-tenure-track position in the department of Accounting at the Teaching Assistant Professor rank beginning in January 2022.

This position is a 9-month faculty appointment in support of college-level, in-person and online undergraduate and graduate programs in Accounting, Forensic Accounting, Accounting Data Analytics, and Business Data Analytics. Approximately, 60-80% of time is devoted to teaching 6-8 course sections per year, and approximately 20% of time is dedicated to service to the department, college, university, and the state. A Master’s, PhD, or DBA degree in accounting, accounting information systems, management information systems, business or equivalent is required by the time of appointment, and the ability and desire to complete and publish research could potentially lead to an allocation of 20% of time to the college’s research mission.

Qualifications :

The ideal candidate has a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching. Candidates must have knowledge, skill and interest in teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in the topics of accounting, forensic accounting, data analytics, business data analytics, or similar topics. Relevant professional certifications are required (e.g. licensed as a Certified Public Accounting).

Candidates are expected to:

  • Have earned a Master’s, PhD, or DBA degree in accounting, accounting information systems, management information systems, business or equivalent before the start date of the position.
  • Teach graduate and undergraduate classes in topics related to the areas of accounting, forensic accounting, data analytics, and business data analytics, at a minimum.
  • Demonstrate willingness to actively participate in college and university committees and activities, as well as to perform outreach activities and establish relationships with external partners to provide hands-on experience for students.
  • Have received and maintained a relevant professional certification (e.g. licensed as a Certified Public Accountant).
  • Be fluent in writing and speaking English.
