The Department of Computer Science at Appalachian State University invites applications for two new tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of assistant professor beginning January 2022. The department has 16 full-time faculty members with interests that range from core areas to interdisciplinary collaborations.

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program serves about 500 students and is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET . Approximately 25 students are enrolled in the Master of Science program with concentrations in Systems, Theory, Data Science, and Web & Mobile Programming.

The department takes pride in having an exemplary record of external funding through several scholarships, CS education, and research projects. The department is recognized by state and regional businesses for providing quality education and several of our faculty have received prestigious teaching awards. We seek individuals excited about joining a collaborative and supportive community with shared values of service and engagement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate computer science courses, mentoring student research, maintaining an active program of scholarship, pursuing external funding, and embracing service activities to achieve the department's common goals. The normal teaching load is 3 courses per semester (typically 2 preparations). Instructors with exceptional scholarly output and external funding can negotiate for reduced teaching responsibilities.
