Position Summary

Assistant/Associate Professor of Exercise Science
The University at Buffalo, Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences is now accepting applications for a full-time position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Exercise Science. We encourage applications from candidates who are historically underrepresented in academia. This is a 10-month, tenure track position and is designated at the faculty rank of Assistant Professor to begin in August 2022. Applicants conducting research in the areas of obesity, sport nutrition, and physical activity are particularly desired but all relevant fields will be considered.

Position Responsibilities
Major responsibilities of this position are to establish and maintain an externally funded research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in exercise science, mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and participate in service activities (e.g., Department, School, University, and Professional organizations). The ideal candidate will establish a line of research that will complement and build off current strengths of the School.

About the Department
The Department of Exercise & Nutrition Sciences is one of the academic units in the School of Public Health & Health Professions. There are well-established research programs and excellent facilities available within the Department and School. The Department offers a BS in Exercise Science, a BS/MS in Exercise Nutrition, a Dietetic Internship with Advanced (Graduate) Certificate, an MS degree in Athletic Training, MS degrees in Nutrition and Exercise Science, a combined Exercise Science BS/ MPH in Epidemiology and PhD degrees in Exercise Science and Nutrition. The Department is home to the Center for Research and Education in Special Environments ( CRESE ), which is a state of the art facility for performing research at altitude, depth, and extremes of temperature.

Minimum Qualifications

· An earned doctorate in exercise science, kinesiology, physiology, or related field
· For Associate Professor candidates, an extensive publication record and current extramural funding is required
Preferred Qualifications

· Postdoctoral research training
· Evidence of securing external funding
· Record of peer-reviewed scientific publications consistent with experience
· Relevant teaching experience in higher education
· For Associate Professor candidates, substantive service is desired such as study section membership or holding a leadership position in a national society
