About the Opportunity:
The Northeastern University Biopharmaceutical Industry Fellowship Program provides a dynamic academic environment offering fellows the opportunity for a wide breadth of experiences:

  • Develop teaching skills through participation in our Teaching and Learning Seminar series

  • Facilitate small and large group didactic education in partnership with a faculty mentor

  • Utilize a layered learning model in experiential education by co-precepting students on pharmacy practice experiences including Northeastern's unique co-op program

  • Create, present, and publish scholarly research through collaborative industry and university relationships

  • Engage with faculty who participate in various interdisciplinary graduate programs including biotechnology, nanomedicine, immunology, health informatics, and drug discovery

  • Network with area residents and other Northeastern fellows via professional development programs, teaching seminars, and participation on fellowship committees

Global Medical Affairs at Takeda provides medical support across the asset lifecycle, from early clinical development to marketed products, in four therapeutic areas, Gastroenterology, Neuroscience, Rare Genetics & Hematology and HAE & Transplant.

    The two-year Takeda Global Medical Affairs Fellowship Program is designed to prepare postdoctoral scholars for rewarding careers in the biopharmaceutical industry. Through hands-on experience, fellows will work with various cross-functional teams to learn the role of Medical Affairs, develop skills in the analysis, interpretation, and communication of clinical data, and expand their scientific knowledge to render clinical insights and contribute to meeting customer needs. The GMA fellowship program resides within the Global Medical Communications team, which is a department that sits within the Chief Medical Office at Takeda. Fellows are assigned a Preceptor within the Medical Communications team who helps provide individualized guidance throughout the duration of the fellowship. In the first year, fellows have the opportunity to complete rotations in Medical Communications, Medical Information, Publications, Medical Excellence and Scientific Training and Medical Evidence Generation groups. Fellows will be integrated into the workflow of each functional area while also participating in special projects and initiatives.

    In the second year, the fellow will select a specialty concentration in their area of interest and expand their industry knowledge by leading projects and initiatives. Throughout both years of the fellowship program, mentorship opportunities and one on one interactions with Global Medical Affairs leaders will be available.

    Fellows may also be able to work with their preceptors on project-specific opportunities, such as Medical Science Liaison (MSL) field rides or Medical Field Excellence projects,

    Upon completion of the program, fellows will have both broad and deep experience in Medical Affairs and be well poised for the challenges of a career in the biopharmaceutical industry

    The fellows will primarily work at Takeda's office in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Northeastern University responsibilities will be carried out on the Northeastern Boston campus.

    Qualifications:
    Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited institution, eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Massachusetts.

    Excellent oral and written communication, time management, and leadership skills, ability to work independently and take initiative on a variety of projects at the industry site and Northeastern.
