Department Summary

The Office of Admissions & Student Recruitment at CSUSB is responsible for facilitating the processing, review, and evaluation of all undergraduate applicants to the University for each open term. California State University, San Bernardino receives over 24,000 applications each year and supports applicants, high schools, school districts, and community colleges with the resources needed to successfully apply and transition to campus.

Job Summary

As a member of the Admissions Processing unit, this position processes mostly paper transcripts and documents that come into the Office of Admissions for evaluation review of admission eligibility. This position assists with the processing of all electronically received transcripts and official documents submitted by applicants to CSUSB which includes the scanning and entering of official data into admission databases.

Employment Status: Full-time, non-exempt, probationary (with the possibility of converting to permanent.

First Review Deadline: This position will remain open until filled. The initial review of applications will begin on September 27th, 2021.

Multiple Vacancies: There are two vacancies for this position.

Work Schedule
  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some evenings and weekend hours may be required.

  • Key Qualifications
  • Experience to be fully functional in all technical aspects of work assignments.
  • Ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures.
  • Thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Ability to clearly communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages.
  • Thorough knowledge of office systems and ability to use a broader range of technology, systems, and packages.
  • Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects.
  • Ability to apply independently a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist.
  • Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures.
  • Ability to perform standard business math, such as calculate ratios and percentages, track financial data, and make simple projections.
  • Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports.
  • Ability to handle effectively a broader range of interpersonal contacts, including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.

  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Equivalent to four years of administrative support experience required.
    • Data entry/computer (PeopleSoft) skills. Working knowledge of various software packages such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint, and Onbase.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate with students, staff, and others regarding admission requirements, policies, and procedures and promote a "student-friendly service" image of Enrollment Services.
    • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with a large volume of documents, organize and coordinate different clerical tasks, set deadlines, and complete projects successfully.
    • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply complex unit, department, and campus policies and procedures.
    • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student.

    Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or its equivalent AND three years of progressively responsible experience in general office clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent.

  • Salary:

    Anticipated Hiring Range: $3,064 per month

    Salary range: $3,064 - $5,148 per month
