Summary:

The EO/Title IX Investigator will confidentially address concerns related to protected class discrimination, harassment, Title IX sexual harassment, sexual misconduct (including stalking, assault, dating and domestic violence), and retaliation. Under the direction of the Director, the Investigator handles both formal and informal complaints involving students, faculty, employees, visitors, and persons or vendors who serve the University as its agents.

This position performs a critical role within the People and Culture team as they address cases related to underrepresented BIPOC populations, the LGBTQ+ community, protected class discrimination, and sexual harassment.

Responsibilities:
  • Conducts prompt, impartial, confidential investigations, offers support services, and assesses urgency of potential violations following UVU policies and procedures, consistent with federal and state civil rights regulations.
  • Leads witness interviews and analyzes all evidence collected in alleged discrimination cases. Drafts complex confidential reports in a timely manner that thoroughly reviews and synthesizes all allegations of a policy violation, evidence, and witness accounts.
  • Maintains electronic case documents, communications, evidence, timelines, and various steps throughout the process.
  • Provides educational training to students and employees across all levels of the institution as needed.
  • Gives ongoing updates and recommendations to the Director and those needing to know information regarding the status of complaints.
  • Creates data-driven trend reports and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor’s degree and two years of investigative experience related to the Summary of Duties and/or other compliance issues.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Affirmative Action, Title VII, Title IX, and other similar laws.
  • Knowledge of EEO and Title IX analysis and report writing requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of conflict resolution basics.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Skills in investigation methods and techniques.
  • Skills in preparation of comprehensive complex reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skills in the preparation and interpretation of reports, charts, graphs, and tables.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Superior organization skills, including the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to remain neutral and objective
  • Able to connect with and relate to underrepresented BIPOC groups and individuals.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information with discretion and tact.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Related advanced degree and/or completed investigation training preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Titles VI, VII, IX, VAWA/SaVe, ADA, and related statutes and laws.
  • Experience in an academic setting investigating employee and/or student conduct, discrimination, sexual harassment, or misconduct issues.
  • Conflict resolution or mediation experience.


Physical Requirements:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
No or very limited physical effort required.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

Pay Range: $60,259 - $75,323 DOQ
