Assistant Dean of Academics, CET

Summary:
College of Engineering and Technology (CET) at the Utah Valley University (UVU) is looking for an Assistant Dean in the general areas of academic affairs. UVU is an open enrollment and the largest university in the state of Utah with dual missions of education at community college and four-year university levels. Most programs in engineering, computer science and technology at UVU are accredited and/or are in the process of being accredited. CET programs are housed in the following departments: Architecture and Engineering Design, Aviation, Computer Science, Construction Technologies, Digital Media, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Information Systems and Technology, Technology Management, Transportation Technologies, in addition to Culinary Arts Institute. CET programs offer certificates, associate, applied associate, bachelors, and masters degrees, in over 40 programs in engineering, computer science and technology fields. We are looking for an exceptional individual serving one of the largest colleges of Engineering and Technology in the state of Utah reporting to the dean and the associate dean. Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs serves as a member of the Dean's senior management team and provides operational support and counsel to the Dean and Associate Dean; acts on behalf of the dean in the Dean's and Associate Dean's absence on matters related to the college and its programs; represents the dean and associate dean and college at various functions within the institution as assigned. Assists with data collection and analysis for strategic/long range planning for administrative goals, development and implementation of College strategic plans, PBA requests and reports; and communicates and shows accountability regarding projects assignments.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree and 2 years evidence of progressive academic and administrative experience with a record of successful people management.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
CET Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs reports to the Associate Dean and works under the direction of the CET Dean and Associate Dean. The following are expected areas of responsibility:

· Works closely with the Dean and Associate Dean on academic affairs within the College of Engineering and Technology.· Works with the Associate Dean to strengthen community outreach and partnerships.· Manages off-site and special programs (e.g. women success, off-campus programs, etc.).· Works closely with Assistant Dean for Finance to oversee institutional research and grant-funded programs.· Liaises with USHE/UBHE/USBE and CET faculty committees; and under the direction of Associate Dean works on creating new opportunities for teacher training in engineering and technology programs.· College recognition awards (faculty/staff)· Works with faculty, and coordinates with CET IT, UVU IT, and UVU GC on hardware/software acquisitions and relevant approval processes.· Manages resources for application of academic policies.· Access to and providing information about academic matters for decision making and publicizing information when appropriate.· Manages programs for facilitating and engaging with different cultures (faculty/staff)· Keeps up to date with professional development and matters related to his/her job areas.· Works with relevant UVU offices on online course offerings and CET online program management, including application of policies.· Manages CET Concurrent Enrollment and high school teacher training summer programs.· Works with the college web developer to enhance faculty and staff access for campus and college services.· Works with Assistant Dean for Advancement and Associate Dean on the Capstone processes and funding of student projects.· Works on special assignments directed by the dean and/or associate dean.



Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in engineering, technology; administrative experience at a university or community college is a plus.

Pay Range: $72,688 - $90,861
