The Senior Executive Director, Masters Programs oversees the end-to-end student experience and operational delivery of Tepper School master’s programs. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Master’s Programs, the Senior Executive Director will work closely with the Tepper School’s leadership team to establish and deliver strategic and operational priorities for the shared services that support the School’s portfolio of master’s programs. The Senior Executive Director will also work closely with other staff and student leaders to foster a diverse, thriving and resilient student community, and ensure high satisfaction throughout their experience as Tepper students.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Direct operational oversight of the shared service units supporting the Tepper School’s master’s programs, including Admissions, Student Services, the Career Center, and the Accelerate Center for Leadership, each led by an experienced administrator.

  • Accountability for key program metrics including enrollment outcomes, class composition and overall student quality, employment outcomes, student satisfaction, and other quantitative deliverables for each master’s program.

  • Supervision of staff leading existing and new master’s programs. Lead responsibility for the master’s programs, including the flagship full-time MBA program.

  • Demonstrate and instill strong management practices among subordinate managers.

  • Establish strategic priorities, goals and success metrics for shared service units and program leads, ensuring alignment with the strategic goals of the Tepper School and CMU.

  • Establish and maintain processes to share information throughout the master’s organizational structure. Ensure a common understanding of Tepper School and CMU initiatives, goals and policies. Champion Tepper’s master’s programs at all levels of the organization.

  • Allocate resources and coordinate tasks across the master’s shared service units in a manner consistent with the Tepper School’s strategic, academic and operational objectives.

  • Oversee the coordinated delivery of a best-in-class experience for all master’s students, from their first interaction with the Tepper School as prospective students through to graduation.

  • Advise and appropriately advance sensitive student issues, including violations of classroom and community codes of conduct, disputes with instructors, academic performance, and policy application concerns.

  • Develop a presence with other business schools, employers, and current and prospective students to keep abreast of trends in business education and skills in business leadership.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with partners across CMU’s campus. Coordinates activities with other Schools and Colleges at CMU and external universities.

 

Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree from an accredited higher education institution is required. An advanced degree in business or higher education management is preferred.

  • 5-8 years of relevant work experience required

  • Equivalent experience and/or education may be considered in lieu of degree

You should demonstrate:

Proven leadership skills in operations, customer and/or student service, and project management. Experience leading academic programs is preferred.

Skills to work collaboratively and persuasively with a variety of campus partners, including faculty, staff, students, employers and alumni. The successful candidate will have outstanding communication skills and the political acumen to navigate the diverse needs of multiple constituents and work successfully across reporting lines.

 

Ability to lead and inspire high-functioning, results driven teams. A demonstrated commitment to employee success at all levels in the organization.

Ability to lead projects from start to finish, including projects with significant financial and/or operational impacts. Ability to take initiative and direct own work.

 

Experience with P&L management, resource allocation and financial planning.

A track record of sound judgement, ethical decision making and integrity.
