Summary

A Research Technician II position is immediately available in the Dr. Celada's laboratory at Section of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine. Applicants are sought to support laboratory investigations into the molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis and other chronic lung disorders. We are seeking highly self-motivated individuals to provide research support, technical assistance, and lab organization. The primary responsibilities will include: mouse colony maintenance, cell culture work, research equipment and laboratory maintenance, perform routine experiments (e.g., western blot and qRT-PCR, cell transfections, etc) under guidance from senior members of the research group. The individual will join a vibrant research environment which focuses on understanding the pathobiology of interstitial lung disorders using cutting edge approaches.

Job Duties
  • Assists with grant writing.
  • Prepares and conducts research experiments.
  • Administrates and manages research procedures.
  • Oversees lab equipment, lab supplies and lab space.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes data.
  • Documents results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.
  • Defines problems and possible solutions.
  • Handles mouse colonies maintenance.
  • Performs cell culture work.
  • Performs routine experiments(e.g., western blot and qRT-PCR, cell transfections etc) under guidance from senior members of the research group.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.


Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one year expereince in handling animal colonies and cell culture techniques.

  • Organized, self-motivated, teamwork, works well under pressure, multitasking.
