Job Description
Virginia Tech is seeking applicants for one or more postdoctoral research positions in theoretical high energy particle physics broadly defined, including but not limited to dark matter, neutrinos, modelbuilding, and/or particle astrophysics. This position is available starting Fall 2021 and is renewable for up to one year (i.e., 2 years duration in total), depending on performance and availability of funds. The theoretical particle physics group consists of three faculty, Shunsaku Horiuchi, Patrick Huber, and Ian Shoemaker, within the Center for Neutrino Physics that consists of more than a dozen faculty in both theory and experiment. The primary duties of the position will consist of research in theoretical high energy physics, writing peer reviewed publications and presenting research results to a wider research community both regionally and internationally.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in theoretical particle physics or another closely related field. PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
- Ability to work independently, while at the same time contributing constructively as part of a team.
