Assistant Water Polo Coach

Job Summary:

The Assistant Water Polo Coach will participate in the preparation, coordination, practice and game plan preparation and execution of practice plans during the academic year. The position is responsible for the identification, research of and communication with prospective student athletes during the course of the calendar year. The Assistant Water Polo Coach will also assist in the academic, personal, and career mentoring of student-athletes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required, knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required; demonstrated ability to recruit quality student-athletes with potential for academic and athletic success; demonstrated ability to organize and administer a Division I Water Polo program within the confines of the NCAA, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and Marist College rules and regulations, ability to work in the Department’s academic advisement program. Must be Adult CPR and AED certified.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist with organization of intercollegiate Water Polo, in compliance with the rules and regulations of the NCAA, MAAC and College
  • Assist with recruitment of qualified student-athletes by researching tournaments and showcases and coordinating the recruiting calendar
  • Accompany and coach the Water Polo team during any local or national competition
  • Assist with providing mentoring to student-athletes inside and outside of practice on their academic, personal civic, and career aspirations for the future
  • Assist the Head Coach in developing the game strategy and designing effective and efficient training and practices for both the team and individual student-athlete by formulating effective game plans for competition; conducting individual and small group training sessions; conducting comprehensive film review from practices and games; preparing daily team practice plans; working games and practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Water Polo Coach.
Preferred Qualifications:

Division I experience as player and/or coaching preferred.
