Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary: $4,304 per month

Full classification Salary Range: $4,304 - $6,120 per month

  • This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.


The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Associate Director, perform moderately complex professional financial aid work that typically requires the application of both knowledge and professional judgment in applying the principles, techniques, standards, guides and professional skills characteristic of the financial aid programs. Requires planning; interviewing and counseling techniques; judgment to recommend solutions to problems and changes in financial aid program procedures; and acting as spokesperson within the areas of expertise. Provide professional and technical support to the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office staff. Frequent direct contact with a multi-ethnic campus population of students, faculty, staff, parents, members of the community, and affiliated agencies. Maintain a thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to financial aid programs. It also requires the use of professional judgment and the application of professional skills in a variety of situations.

Key Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of the practices, procedures and activities of financial aid and scholarship programs;
  • General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management
  • General knowledge of research and interview techniques
  • General knowledge of the principles, practices and trends of the student services as well as the program areas assigned
  • General knowledge of individual counseling techniques

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university preferably in a related field of study
    • Experience within financial aid or enrollment management may be substituted for a maximum of two years of experience on a year-for-year basis
  • Two years of professional experience in a student service program or related field
    • A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience




Department Summary

The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships supports the University by administering and/or coordinating all student financial aid programs at California State University, Fresno. The office is responsible for administering federal, state, institutional, and scholarship aid in excess for $250,000,000 annually to approximately 80% of the student.
